Duende is Perth’s first and original Spanish tapas bar.

Since opening in 2003 it has continued to provide a unique culinary experience dedicated to the Spanish tapas culture with this experienced in warm, rustic surrounds.

We are positioned on the fringe of vibrant Leederville in a location that could easily leave one wondering if they were in Barcelona, Seville or San Sebastian.

Duende essentially means ‘having soul’, a feeling that is experienced with each and every visit.

Open for breakfast every weekend and lunch and dinner 7 days a week, Duende is the perfect location for that casual coffee catch-up, an important business meeting or a group gathering of family or friends to celebrate… well, anything.

Our wine bar opens from midday with an extensive offer of local and imported wines, beers and killer cocktails.

We gladly accept the Entertainment Card however there are certain days where this offer does not apply. Please refer to your card terms and conditions for a full list of these days.

Menu

Duende’s open kitchen is a focal point in the restaurant delivering a sumptuous array of authentic Spanish tapas dishes. Only fresh, local produce is used in crafting our dishes.

Tapas is all about sharing with all tastes covered through the extensive selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. And if help is required our team are always on hand to advise and make recommendations.

Don’t miss tasty Chorizo a la Plancha, chorizo straight off the grill, our ever popular Bomba, sweetcorn & manchego croquettes or Variado de Cerdo, crispy pork belly , chargrilled pork chop, with seasonal greens, potatoes & apple.

Dessert is well catered for and includes the ever popular doughnut balls and condensed milk ice cream, the perfect finish to a meal.

The queso (cheese) selection is regularly varied to maintain the most interesting cross section of unique flavours.

The ultimate tapas experience comes with the shared plate degustation menu. This menu represents great value with seven dishes including our signature dessert for just $50 per person. We also provide a wine matching option of 5 paired wines for a further $45 per person. A vegetarian option is also available. All of our degustation menus are based on shared plate for a minimum of 2 people.

The breakfast / brunch menu offers a selection of tantalising dishes to give you the best start to your day, running until midday on Saturday and Sundays, and most public holidays.

Drop in for lunch Monday to Thursday excluding public holidays and for just $15 you’ll get your choice of any 2 tapas from our traditional, vegetarian, meat & seafood offers. There’s 190 possible combinations so you might need to make more than one trip . For just another $6 you’ll also get your first glass of our great Duende wines or Sangria.

Gluten free options are also available.

Drinks

Duende’s wine list is a combination of quality imported wines, primarily with an Iberian focus, and a selection of hand-picked West Australian and eastern states drops. We actively seek unique wines to complement all aspects of our tapas menu.

Our very own Duende label Tempranillo comes out of Mount Barker, beautifully crafted by the team at West Cape Howe. Our white, Viura, hails from Navarra, Spain and reflects the talent of the team at Azul y Garanza.

Sangria is made fresh daily with the freshest of locally sourced fruits and our range of beers includes some great Spanish favourites along with a selection of locally brewed specialty styles.

If it’s cocktails that take your fancy our inspired and talented team behind the bar are constantly developing new and exciting concoctions. Gin lovers will be delighted with our list and the sherry offer covers the full gamut from dry white to sweet dark and everything in between.

Juices are cold pressed in the Swan Valley from locally grown produce and delivered the same day. That’s fresh.

For coffee lovers, our Duende label specialty blend coffee is locally roasted on a small batch basis and served throughout the day by our skilled baristas.

Our scullery made tea is served hot or cold, stimulating the senses through the unique assortment of flavours .

And then there’s our morning (booze free) cocktails…

      Why hospitality? Thought its a great way to combine my love of food and my dislike of excercising…plus the fact that everyday is never the same because we get to meet different people. If you had to describe yourself as a drink, what would it be and why? A double shot of espresso or hard liquor – small but gets the job done. What do you enjoy most about being a part of Duende? The team flows well together and everyone has each others’ backs. Plus the chefs ain’t half bad looking too!

          Why hospitality? Eating releases endorphins in the same way as exercising and laughing. Why wouldn’t you want to give people pleasure and relieves stress? It’s hard work at times but pays off with that positive connection to your customers. If you had to describe yourself as a drink, what would it be and why? Anyone who knows me well would agree when I say Jameson Irish Whiskey…in any form! What do you enjoy most about being a part of Duende? I love how creativity is constantly encouraged. Great tasty, daily specials and the wine and cocktail list is under constant revision to keep you coming back for more. There’s always something to be learned or taught.

                Book a spot at one of our exclusive chef’s table dinners. Held at 7pm on the first Tuesday in every month, you will enjoy a special menu prepared by our head chef served with a selection of amazing wines hand-picked by our sommelier.

                Spots are limited to a maximum of 14, that’s the full table, at just $95 per person. Bookings are essential so just call or email us to reserve your spot.

                Gift Vouchers

                For that special gift there is nothing better than a Duende gift voucher.

                Just pop in or phone us with your credit card details and we’ll get things under way.

                Alternatively complete the details below and one of our team will be in touch to get your credit details and complete the process.

                Postage of the gift voucher can be arranged using Express Post. A $5 charge applies for this service.

                Bookings

                Duende welcomes bookings and also maintains space for its walk-in guests. We do tend to fill up quickly so we encourage you to come in early.

                For lunch or dinner bookings of 10 or more a $25 per person deposit is required. This is fully refundable up until 48 hours prior to the booking time and thereafter is chargeable for any reduction of guest numbers or complete cancellations.

                Should you find that your preferred time isn’t available, give us a call and we’ll see if we can weave some magic.

                Whatever it is you’re celebrating, Duende is the place to gather.

                We have a variety of seating options from our plush booth area to the chef’s table seating up to 14, or outside in our covered alfresco space.

                Enjoy the flavours of Spain with our degustation menus covering 7 or 10 shared plate dishes that include our signature dessert. Or even go one step further and indulge yourself totally with matched wines.

                Our extensive wine list has an Iberian focus but also incorporates some amazing drops from many other parts of the globe and of course, those local gems. We also offer over 50 wines and sherries by the glass so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
                Combine all that with a great selection of beers and cocktails and we know you’ll be in for a top time.
