Duende is Perth’s first and original Spanish tapas bar.
Since opening in 2003 it has continued to provide a unique culinary experience dedicated to the Spanish tapas culture with this experienced in warm, rustic surrounds.
We are positioned on the fringe of vibrant Leederville in a location that could easily leave one wondering if they were in Barcelona, Seville or San Sebastian.
Duende essentially means ‘having soul’, a feeling that is experienced with each and every visit.
Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, Duende is the perfect location for that casual coffee catch-up, an important business meeting or a group gathering of family or friends to celebrate… well, anything.
Our wine bar opens from midday with an extensive offer of local and imported wines, beers and killer cocktails.
We were the proud gold award winner for the 18/19 Entertainment Card Awards and gladly accept the card. There are certain days where this offer does not apply so please refer to your card terms and conditions for a full list of these days.

Duende’s open kitchen is a focal point in the restaurant delivering a sumptuous array of authentic Spanish tapas dishes.
Tapas is all about sharing with all tastes covered through the extensive selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. And if help is required our team are always on hand to advise and make recommendations.
The queso (cheese) selection is regularly varied to maintain the most interesting cross section of unique flavours.
The ultimate tapas experience comes with the Chef’s Selection Menu. This menu incorporates five great dishes for just $49 per person and for just $10 more you can add the dessert of your choice. A vegetarian option of this menu is also available with all of our chef’s selection menus being based on shared plate for a minimum of 2 people.
Gluten free options are also available.
Duende’s wine list is a combination of quality imported wines, primarily with an Iberian focus, and a selection of hand-picked West Australian and eastern states drops. We actively seek unique wines to complement all aspects of our tapas menu.
Our very own Duende label Tempranillo comes out of Mount Barker, beautifully crafted by the team at West Cape Howe. Our white, Pardevalles Albarín, hails from Tierra de Leon, Spain.
Sangria is made fresh daily with the freshest of locally sourced fruits and our range of beers includes some great Spanish favourites along with a selection of locally brewed specialty styles.
If it’s cocktails that take your fancy our inspired and talented team behind the bar are constantly developing new and exciting concoctions. Gin lovers will be delighted with our list and the sherry offer covers the full gamut from dry white to sweet dark and everything in between.
For coffee lovers, our Duende label specialty blend coffee is locally roasted on a small batch basis and served throughout the day by our skilled baristas.
Our scullery made tea is served hot or cold, stimulating the senses through the unique assortment of flavours .

Exciting news: We teamed up with Anja Lewis of Canny Grapes who will be hosting Spanish Wine Tasting Classes at Duende. Each class will have a different theme so you can come along and enjoy them all. Join Anja on her fun and educational wine tasting journey through Spain. Travel to Spain’s many wine regions, discover grape varieties you may never heard off, learn about wine making techniques, wine styles, how to match food and wine while finding your new Spanish favourite. All classes include seven wines and small share plates. Bookings are essential as the classes are limited to 10 seats only. We love our dogs, big & small, and will always have a place for them in our alfresco area … and a bowl of (filtered) water of course. Just let us know when you want to come down and we’ll find a spot for you and your beloved pooch.
Get your friends together and take over our chef’s table. Adjacent to our kitchen, you’ll see it all magically happen and we can also pair up an amazing selection of wines to make it a truly memorable dining experience.

Postage of the gift voucher within Australia can be arranged using Express Post. A $6 charge applies for this service.
Duende welcomes bookings and also maintains space for its walk-in guests. We do tend to fill up quickly so we encourage you to come in early.
For all bookings of more than 6 guests at our busiest times, Friday & Saturday nights in particular, a credit card is required to secure the booking. We reserve the right to charge $25 per guest charge in the event of any significant reduction of numbers or complete cancellation where this occurs within 24 hours of the booking time. A full charge at the same rate will be applied for all guests booked in the event of a no show situation.
Should you find that your preferred time isn’t available, give us a call and we’ll see if we can weave some magic.

We have a variety of seating options from our plush booth area to the chef’s table that seats 12, or outside in our covered alfresco space.
Enjoy the flavours of Spain with our Chef’s Selection menu covering 6 shared plate dishes that includes dessert. This menu is required for all bookings of 10 or more at our busiest times, these being our Friday & Saturday dinner services.
Our extensive wine list has an Iberian focus but also incorporates some amazing drops that are primarily local with a selection from other parts of our great country. You’ll be spoilt for choice.
Combine all that with a great selection of beers and cocktails and we know you’ll be in for a top time.
Please note for dinner bookings of 10 or more on Fridays & Saturdays, credit card details are required to secure the booking. We reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of $25 per person in the event of cancellation or a significant reduction of guest numbers within 48 hours of the scheduled booking time.
