Duende is Perth’s first and original Spanish tapas bar.
Since opening in 2003 it has continued to provide a unique culinary experience dedicated to the Spanish tapas culture with this experienced in warm, rustic surrounds.
We are positioned on the fringe of vibrant Leederville in a location that could easily leave one wondering if they were in Barcelona, Seville or San Sebastian.
Duende essentially means ‘having soul’, a feeling that is experienced with each and every visit.
Open for breakfast (Fri – Sun) and lunch and dinner 7 days a week, Duende is the perfect location for that casual coffee catch-up, an important business meeting or a group gathering of family or friends to celebrate… well, anything.
Our wine bar opens from midday with an extensive offer of local and imported wines, beers and killer cocktails.

Duende’s open kitchen is a focal point in the restaurant delivering a sumptuous array of authentic Spanish tapas dishes. Only fresh, local, organic produce is used in crafting our dishes.
Tapas is all about sharing with all tastes covered through the extensive selection of seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. And if help is required our team are always on hand to advise and make recommendations.
Don’t miss tasty chorizo straight off the grill, our Paella Bomba or Vientra de Cerdo , slow cooked pork belly with fig jam, chorizo, burnt orange glaze and charred broccolini.
Dessert is well catered for and includes the ever popular doughnut balls and condensed milk ice cream, the perfect finish to a meal.
The queso (cheese) selection is regularly varied to maintain the most interesting cross section of unique flavours.
The ultimate tapas experience comes with the shared plate degustation menu. This menu represents great value with ten dishes including our signature dessert for just $65 per head. We also provide a wine match of 6 paired wines for $45 per head.
Our Almuerzo (lunch) menu is a great way to grab a quick tapas fix, running Monday to Friday from 12-3pm. Vegetarian options also available.
The breakfast / brunch menu offers a selection of tantalising dishes to give you the best start to your day, running until midday Friday through till Sunday.
Vegetarian and gluten free options are available across the day.
Duende’s wine list is a combination of quality imported wines, primarily with an Iberian focus, and a selection of hand-picked local West Australian and eastern states drops. Sommelier Aaron actively seeks unique wines to complement all aspects of our tapas menu.
Our own Duende label Tempranillo was judged as the trophy winner for its class at both the 2014 Perth Royal Wine Show and 2014 National Wine Show of Australia.
Sangria is made fresh daily with the freshest of locally sourced fruits and our range of beers includes some great Spanish favourites along with a selection of locally brewed specialty styles.
If it’s cocktails that take your fancy our inspired and talented team behind the bar are constantly developing new and exciting concoctions. Gin lovers will be delighted with our list and the sherry offer covers the full gamut from dry white to sweet dark and everything in between.
Juices are cold pressed in the Swan Valley from locally grown produce and delivered the same day. That’s fresh.
For coffee lovers, our Duende label specialty blend coffee is locally roasted on a small batch basis and served throughout the day by our skilled baristas.
Our scullery made tea is served hot or cold, stimulating the senses through the unique assortment of flavours .

To celebrate Aussie Wine Month, we’re showcasing the finest of what the West has to offer. Join Dan Pannell and family, the team behind one of WA’s leading wine labels – Picardy. They will take you on a journey through their revered range of Western Australian wines, matched with an exclusive menu by Head Chef Jonny Stone.
At the forefront of the wine scene in WA, the Pannell family first planted vines in 1993 which they had imported directly from Burgundy. Since then, the consistent quality and honesty of their wines have helped them grow into the respected producers they are today. We are very lucky to be presenting a line-up of 6 of their best offerings, including the sublime Tete de Cuvee Pinot Noir. The wines will be teamed up with 3 delicious courses of modern cuisine from our dynamic kitchen.

Both menus are designed to leave you satisfied but not overwhelmed, covering favourites from both the tapa and racion sections of our menu in addition to any specials Chef may be running according to his market purchases on the day. Please allow 3 hours for dining on the degustation menus. In the spirit of Spanish cuisine the dishes are served as a sharing style with detailed descriptions provided by our informed staff. We can happily cater for any dietary requirements with prior arrangement.

Duende welcomes bookings and also maintains space for its walk-in guests. We do tend to fill up quickly so we encourage you to come in early.
With breakfast we don’t generally take bookings, however if you’re a group of more than 6 by all means give us a call and we’ll do whatever we can to assist.
For lunch and dinner, should you find that your preferred time isn’t available, give us a call and we’ll see if we can weave some magic.
